A Wilhelm Kåge Argenta box
A lidded stoneware box designed by Wilhelm Kåge and produced by Gustavsberg as part of the Argenta series. The box is finished in a green glaze and decorated with a silver figure reclining across the lid, holding a long, slender object that extends beyond the hand. The figure is rendered in a flat, graphic manner that contrasts with the softly mottled glaze beneath. The box has a rectangular form with a fitted lid, and the decoration continues the calm, balanced relationship between surface, colour and line.
