A pair of cast glass mirrors by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors

On hold

These large and impressive rectangular mirrors set in a molded cast glass frame and beaded glass inner edge are incredibly well crafted and exquisitely detailed. The weight of these mirrors is substantial and it is very rare to find a pair of them together. They are manufactured in the 1940s by famed Swedish glassworks Orrefors and designed by Carl Fagerlund, both which are hallmarks of quality.

Carl Fagerlund

Carl Fagerlund is known for his work as a designer, particularly in the field of lighting design. He gained recognition in the mid-20th century for his elegant and innovative designs, often combining functionality with artistic expression. Fagerlund worked primarily in glass and lighting, creating lamps that were distinctive for their use of high-quality materials and sophisticated design elements.

Fagerlund was associated with Orrefors, a well-known Swedish glass manufacturer, and is regarded as one of the key figures in the Scandinavian design movement. His works often incorporate both classical and modern aesthetics, drawing on the clean lines and minimalism that became hallmark traits of Scandinavian design in the 1950s and 1960s.

His lighting fixtures are considered iconic for their graceful integration of glass, metal, and light, reflecting his keen sense of form and the interplay of light and shadow. Fagerlund's works have become highly collectible, and his lamps are sought after by design enthusiasts today.
