Nanny Still

Nanny Still (born 1928 in Finland) was indeed a prominent Finnish glass designer, widely recognized for her work with Iittala, one of Finland’s most renowned glassware companies. She was one of the key figures in shaping Finland's reputation for high-quality, modern glass design in the mid-20th century.

Still’s design career took off in the 1950s, and she became known for her innovative use of glass materials and her ability to combine both form and function in aesthetically pleasing yet practical designs. She often used traditional Finnish glassblowing techniques while pushing the boundaries with experimental shapes and textures. Still was particularly interested in creating pieces that reflected the beauty and clarity of the Finnish landscape, and her works often had organic, flowing shapes inspired by nature.
