Our story begins when the founder of Melancholia, who always has had a great eye for beautiful things, often found that high end antique stores were very inaccessible and difficult to visit without an appointment. She wished to open a showroom that welcomed everyone interested in beautiful mid-century design. A place that should feel uncomplicated and friendly. She started to hand select unique items often with a twist of playfulness. The result is Melancholia.
We are Scandinavian to the core but our inspiration stems from all over the world.
Combining exclusive designer’s items with more affordable objects we strive to create a unique collection with high aesthetic value.
We love and care for our collection and mindfully repair if necessary. When upholstering is needed we only use the highest quality of fabrics, often handprinted from different parts of the world to create something unique.
We aim to be welcoming, transparent, accessible and uncomplicated in everything we do.
